RCPS Needs Volunteer Peer Support Providers to help support those in our community.
The Mental Health Justice & Equity Foundation is a national foundation focused on changing the mental health system at all levels to provide justice, equity, and support for everyone in the Nation and across the globe.
We believe that equality is including everyone, while equity is ensuring that everyone has the uniquely curated support, tools, and resources they need for achieving their mental health wellness and recovery.
Dismantle inequitable systems of mental health support and care.
We provide constructive feedback to other organizations, agencies, and systems highlighting their strengths and focusing on their areas for growth in a collaborative effort to shift towards equitable practices, programs, and services.
Advocate judicial and legislative action centered on equitable peer led mental health support.
We intend to propose a federal bill for peer mental health support that:
a) Law enforcement, at least alone, and especially untrained in peer mental health support, will no longer be the first responders to people experiencing mental health crises.
b) Mandatory psychiatric holds interred at hospitals and other clinical institutions will be jointly operated with peer support providers and clinical staff in an equal and equitable partnership in support of their patients' care and needs.
Create national leading standards and certifications in mental health and peer support: education, training, and safety.
We are in the process of developing a comprehensive peer support training program that draws from many other peer support training programs and additional evidence-based resources to create a thorough and effective curricula that ensures all peer support providers are knowledgeable in peer support and mental health foundations, topics, and skills.
Promote mental health awareness and information to eliminate and erase stigma.
Build peer led community mental health centers in all 3,006 counties in the United States.
We advocate mental health advocates and champions for humanity to form chartered MHJE Peer Support organizations under our guidance, leadership, and our education and training standards.
Cultivate and foster hope and resiliency in support of every single person's mental health wellness and recovery.
We intend to shift the current mental health system from primary clinical supports to peer driven and peer led with clinical systems of support following as secondary systems of support under the guidance and leadership of peers.
We need peers to lead and drive the mental health system.
Ensure no person is left behind and left without equitable, culturally humble, and sustainable systems of support and care.
